AJA Io products answer that call by providing desktop-level functionality in a portable form factor that’s powerful enough to deliver in the edit suite, and sturdy enough to handle life in the field.
AJA IO 4K
Professional ConnectivityIo 4K has the connectivity required for today’s variety of productions. With full-sized BNC connectors for 4K input and output as well as HDMI 1.4 in and out, Io 4K can handle professional 4 x SDI 4K signals as well as capturing and outputting 4K over HDMI for use with more affordable 4K equipment. An additional BNC provides a dedicated, HD-SDI downconverted output for easy viewing of 4K projects on HD monitors.
When working at 4K resolutions, Io 4K outputs a high-quality HD-SDI down-converted signal on a dedicated BNC connector. This HD signal can be used to output 4K projects directly to HD recorders for broadcast and for easy viewing of 4K images on HD monitors during post-production.
Embedded 16-channel SDI and 8-channel HDMI audio are supported as well as analog audio outputs via a standard DB-25 connection. Stereo monitoring is also possible with 2 x RCA outputs and a front panel mini-TRS headphone jack.
Io 4K can be locked to an external reference for integration into larger productions, or feed LTC in and out to ensure footage captured with Io 4K has the proper timecode. An RS-422 port allows control of tape decks for frame-accurate captures and layoffs.

Integrated AJA hardware conversion Io XT utilizes AJA’s high-quality up/down/cross-conversion hardware, the same found in our flagship FS2 converter. Conversion can be done either on capture or on output. On capture, this allows you to take mismatched source media and bring it all to a common resolution so individual shots don’t have to be scaled in the edit. Likewise, Io XT can perform conversions during output to adapt to different monitoring or layoff configurations without having to change the native editorial timeline. Uniquely, the Io XT can cross-convert 720p 23.98 to 1080PsF 23.98, which is particularly valuable in today’s multi-format HD post environment.
